Sigmoid Volvulus

A 74 years old lady presented with acute intestinal obstruction. Emergency laparotomy revealed sigmoid volvulus. Accordingly sigmoid colectomy with double barrel colostomy was performed. Post operatively she had wound infection with wound dehiscence. All layer closure (tension sutures) was performed immediately. The lady made a satisfactory recovery.
