Benign Cystic Teratoma,
Ovary
A 22 years old lady presented with a huge abdominal mass which was reaching up to the epigastrium. It was tense but mobile. Ultrasonography was suggestive of a massive simple ovarian cyst. Accordingly exploratory laparotomy was contemplated. This revealed a large cyst arising from the right ovary, containing about 4 litres of clear fluid. The cyst was excised completely. Gross appearance showed tufts of hair and teeth in its wall. Histopathology confirmed benign cystic teratoma of the ovary with evidence of respiratory epithelium as well as thyroid tissue.
