As part of Ayub Medical College’s policy to produce 7 star doctors which are not only good care givers but good leaders and thnkers as well, AMC sent a delegation to NIMUN’16 this year.
NIMUN (NUST International Model United Nation) is an international MUN in which delegates from more than 18 foreign countries took part this time along with students from other top ranked institutions of Pakistan.
MUN is a simulation of the United Nations in which participants act as delegates of different countries. They are presented problems faced by the international community and then the delegates try to solve them while sticking to their countries’ official stance. Participants’ skills are tested in an intense environment where not only one’s knowledge but their diplomatic skills as well as their patience to tolerate criticism is tested. MUN helps the delegates to improve their ability to understand other people’s prospective about an issue and to increase their proficiency in handling unpredictable situations.
Experience of Ayubian Delegation was very good at NIMUN’16. This delegation consisted six 4th Year MBBS and one 3rd Year MBBS student. Though most of them were first time MUNNERS, they made themselves heard loud there.
The delegation not only performed well in the debates but were taking active part in the social events as well. While seen as most professional delegates in the morning, they were one of a kind dancers and comedians in evening gatherings.
Overall experience of Ayubian Delegation was overwhelming. They enjoyed and learned a lot and they had great exposure to ideas and skills of people from all around the world.
All this wasn’t possible without the help of Dr. Umer Farooq who made it possible for the students to be funded by college. Always acting as a motivator in a very kind attitude, the delegation cannot thank him enough with words. We believe that his vision to involve and facilitate students in extra and co-curricular activities beyond the borders of Ayub Medical College not only help steer the life of the students involved but also smother the path for future students of Ayub Medical College.
