Department Introduction:

Ayub Medical College started functioning on May 9, 1979. On December 30, 1990, the new campus welcomed students and faculty. With a glorious history and past accomplishments, the physiology department is 44 years old. Physiology is an integrative field that encompasses nearly every aspect of modern biology. Physiology is an experimental, scientific discipline that is critical in medicine and other health sciences. It enables more effective treatment of abnormal or diseased states by providing a thorough understanding of normal body functions. The primary goal of the medical physiology course is for students to understand how the body works by stating the functions of each organ system, explaining the mechanism by which each function occurs, and relating the function to the anatomy and histology of each organ system.

Chairperson’s note:

It is an honor to have been appointed chairperson of the physiology department since     15th Nov, 2022.

We, as physiologists, play an important role in the future of medicine as educators, researchers, and physicians. I take my job in academic medicine with pride. I am confident that my outstanding physiology colleagues and I will continue to pave the way for innovation, discovery, and success.

Services offered:

The physiology laboratory is well-equipped for undergraduate and postgraduate study. Recently, our department was recognized for FCPS training with a CPSP-approved supervisor. We have a well-resourced laboratory for undergraduate students and collaborate on postgraduate research with Ayub Teaching Hospital. We also provide students with counseling and orientation programs that include mentorship.

We are dedicated to instilling in our students a lifelong love of learning, the thrill of discovery, and a keen sense of curiosity about the chemical, physical, and biological functions of life.
