As part of the faculty development program, Department of Medical Education, Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad conducted a ‘Workshop on Teaching Methodologies’ for the lecturers on 18th-19th December 2018. The participants included 21 lecturers from basic sciences and dentistry department. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Noaman Siddiqui, Coordinator DME. The topics covered included writing learning outcomes, learning domains & styles, principles of adult learning, presentation skills, teaching a psychomotor skills, how to provide feedback to learners and how to deal with disruptive behaviors. All the participants were required to make 6-8 minutes presentation that was followed by critique and constructive feedback by the experts.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Prof. Umer Farooq, Dean AMC stressed the need of faculty development programs in the institution and said that with the initiation of Modular System from this year onwards, our teachers must keep abreast with various techniques of teaching and learning in medical education. He later awarded certificates of attendance to the participants.
