Welcome to the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics at Ayub Medical College

Pharmacology and Therapeutics is a medical science in its own right that involves clinical and preclinical subject matter and techniques. Its clear and comprehensive understanding is indispensable to a professional clinician and dentist.

The mission of this department is to develop a curriculum that inculcates an adequate understanding of pharmacology and therapeutics. Keeping it relevant to clinical medicine and focusing on recent advances in the field with a commitment to improving healthcare

The student must be taught the actions and uses of drugs in the prevention and treatment of disease in a way that a graduate of this institution is able to apply the basic principles necessary for the rational use of drugs in daily clinical practice. For the last four decades, the dedicated staff of the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics has been pursuing this mission with the best of their capabilities, using various teaching approaches with appreciable outcomes.

The department offers academic programs at the undergraduate level for BDS and MBBS students while aspiring to introduce advanced degree programs that focus on specialized areas of pharmacological research in the future. Pharmacology is inherently interdisciplinary, involving aspects of other fields; therefore, we collaborate with other departments to foster a more comprehensive understanding of drug action in a newly implemented “modular system,” further enhancing student’s critical thinking in clinical decision-making.

Each year our department welcomes new students who are on the path to becoming clinicians in the future with enthusiasm and optimism that with our support and hard work they’ll prove to be a valuable asset to our healthcare system in the future!
