Mission statement from Chairperson Radiology:
- Strive for excellence in medical imaging through the provision of high-quality, expert, and accurate diagnostic facilities to both indoor and outdoor patients.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate innovations in imaging, research, and education so as to improve the quality of people’s health.
- Support the teaching and research activities that motivate and inspire excellence.
Introduction:
The radiology department at AMTI not only teaches undergraduate MBBS students but also runs a structured postgraduate FCPS radiology program of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. The trainees are inducted twice a year for a four-year training program in FCPS. The department also offers a structured radiographer training program. The duration of the program is two years. The Department is regulated and licensed by the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) and offers 24/7 services that cater to the needs of inpatients, outpatients, emergency patients, institutional-based private patients, and private diagnostic referrals from outside by providing the best possible diagnostic services developed on modern lines.
It is fortified with a team of radiologists, certified radiographers, IT & support staff. The general radiography procedures are carried out on a Digital Radiography System which has minimized the patient waiting time, radiation dose & report turnaround time. It provides additional facilities for simultaneous viewing of images by multiple users.
It is equipped with 7 x-ray machines: a combination of 03 integrated digital and 04 retrofit to cater to inpatients, outpatients, and private patients. Additionally, one X-ray system is dedicated to the casualty. The department is providing portable services at eight stations in the hospital, inclusive of trauma, intensive care, and nursery. It is also providing C-arm services in multiple sites in the hospital. There is one 80slice CT scan, both for elective and emergency patients. Additionally, at least six ultrasound/Doppler machines comprise the ultrasound services. Mammography services are also available.
Stat-of-the-art 1.5 tesla MRI is also functional in ATH, providing 24/7 services to both indoor and outdoor patients. In addition to routine brain, spine, and MSK studies, we also perform special studies, including MRS, MRCP, MR enterography, functional MRI and MRI of the liver.
All of this has resulted in increased throughput and enhanced quality of patient care.
Radiology Services Offered
Diagnostic procedures performed by the radiology team include the following:
Mammography
Mammography is the most common screening method for breast cancer. It uses X-rays to help detect tumors or abnormal growths in the breasts.
Computed Tomography (CT)
A computed tomography (CT) scan assembles a series of X-ray images, or slices, to create a more detailed view of the inside of the body. Our state-of-the-art CT scanner allows our team to perform multiple, advanced imaging procedures such as CT angiography, which helps in diagnosing intracranial aneurysms, peripheral artery disease, pulmonary embolisms (blood clots), and other cardiovascular conditions.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is the least invasive imaging procedure available. With sonograms, our specialists look inside the body to evaluate various organs and vessels.
X-ray
This diagnostic procedure uses electromagnetic waves to take images of the body. It helps your doctor to look inside your body without having to make an incision.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses radio waves to create a picture of the inside of the body. Stat-of-the-art 1.5 tesla MRI is also functional in ATH, providing 24/7 services to both indoor and outdoor patients. In addition to routine brain, spine, and MSK studies, we also perform special studies, including MRS, MRCP, MR enterography, functional MRI, and MRI of the liver.
